Fashion Shoot Sunday

Today i had organized for a model to come around to my "studio" (living room) and shoot some fashion head shots/portraits, its one of my main interests in photography but i had never really tried it before so it was a new experience, i used 2 strobe lights (sb800's) one into a lastolite ezybox as a key light from camera left and another into a shoot through umbrella from behind me as some on axis fill and for some shots as fill on camera right. (The shot up top is straight out of camera not one thing edited besides some sharpening and noise reduction and the watermark obviously.) Im pretty happy with all the shots but this is my favorite on first look hope you like it too.

The rest of the shots are pretty close to finished they need a little more work but they are pretty close to done.

Dave Hill "look"

After

I read a lot of blogs, and when im bored i go though some of them to the much earlier posts from before i knew about them, on one such blog i found a "cheat" (easy, simple, (not correct)) way to edit like one of my favorite photographers Dave Hill. Now this pic is by no means finished as its my first crack at trying it and i havent even put it into photoshop yet, but i think overall i get a basic dave hill "look" as it is known. They key to doing it is really in lighting for it and since i have not shot anything with lighting that will make it easier this was the best i had but be warned there shall be more to come as soon as i figure out how to light for it.


I thought i should include a before and after shot to show the difference.

My good friend Damo has just done a post on yours truly basically coz we were bored and playing with cameras he took a few shots of my tattoos which has now given him the idea to shoot all our friends with tattoos from the perspective of someone with out them, you can check out his post of me HERE and the rest of his stuff here its really pretty good i suggest you take a look

ROCKSTARS

I have never been a huge fan of 30 Seconds to Mars i think the songs they release are pretty good but the album fillers are just that album fillers recorded so they have just enough material to release a full length album, and their videos in my opinion have always been long winded for no real reason. Which brings me to the Video that sits in this post for the song "Closer To The Edge" its things like this that make me want to be a Rockstar, its why i love the music industry, its one of the reasons i get up in the morning because clips like this inspire me to be better at whatever the hell i am doing, its the reason i played in bands for so many years even though deep down i knew i was never going to be good enough to "make it" i always wanted to try and if i could i would try all over again, Because to me there is nothing better than an incredible live performance, What im trying to say is this is the best music video i have seen in a very very long time, and Jared Leto you are my new Hero!

Touring life

You might not know this but i did a 2 month tour of the US with hawthorn heights, Emery , The Color Fred, Tickle Me Pink and The Mile After as a Merch guy for the opening band while that might not seem like it has anything to do with photography to me it has everything to do with photography you see its where i began taking pictures!
